DIY : Replace your faucet handle – Goodnest

Can’t turn on your water? Feeling a big thirsty? Follow these steps and we’ll get your taps back on track.

Step 1. Firstly, make sure the water supply to the tap is turned off, usually beneath the sink there are 2 valves, if you’re replacing the right handle turn the right valve off if you’re replacing the left handle turn the left valve off. If your tap is a single handle, turn the one valve off beneath the sink to cut off the water supply.

Step 2. Make sure no water comes out by turning the tap on before leaving it off for the next step.

Step 3. Most handles have a cap located at its centre, take it off with the tip of your screwdriver to reveal the screw. Then find a screwdriver that matches and unscrew it.

Step 4. Take off the handle and remove the Allen screws at the bottom of the escutcheon (you will need an Allen key to do this).

Step 5. Lift off the escutcheon to see the valve and take off the current faucet and replace it with a new one.

Step 6. Now align the escutcheon with the faucet and screw everything back into place.

Step 7. Place the handle back on and twist it to the off and on position to ensure that its locked into place before screwing the top back into place.

Step 8. Place the cap back over the screw and turn the water supply back on. Everything should be working good as new.
