DIY : Fixing Broken Fishing Rod Tip – Lane Katris – Medium
Sometimes your rod tip breaks and you don’t feel like buying another. Here is what it looked like when I was out and about and wanted to continue fishing:
Not the best but I could still cast — not very far though.
When I got home I did a real basic fix. This mainly worked because it broke off so closely to the tip, the rod was still fairly skinny to fit into the eyelet.
- 2x Pliers
- Glue you can melt or fishing rod glue
- Something to hold the fishing rod still
Use a lighter to heat the eyelet and work the rod and eyelet back and forth until the rod backs out. Just try to rip it out without bending the metal much.
I had to clean adhesive off with dish liquid and a sponge and used the toothpick to clean out the eyelet. Heat up glue with a lighter and apply lightly. Push the eyelet on as hard as possible. The last image is how I held the rod still.
