DIY : Bergamot – Rooted Life – Medium

There is SO much to love about this oil….

Bergamot is a plant that produces a type of citrus fruit and its scientific name is Citrus Bergamia. It’s defined as a hybrid between a sour orange and lemon, or a mutation of lemon (cool, right?).

There are AMAZING health benefits of Bergamot essential oil, but before I knew that, I was first drawn by it’s woodsy, sweet, citrus aroma. I just craved the scent without knowing too much about it’s incredible wellness support…

  • Uplifting Scent
  • Cardiovascular support
  • Reduces tension + stress
  • Supports discomfort in the body
  • Boosts skin health
  • Supports digestion
  • Works as a natural deodorant
  • Supports body temperature
  • Supports oral health (try adding a drop to all natural toothpaste or in a swig of water, swishing it and spitting it)
  • Supports the respiratory system
  • Reduction of blood pressure
  • Fights Infections

Even in traditional Chinese medicine, bergamot is used to help with the flow of vital energy so the digestive system can work effectively, and it’s also used to prevent the growth of bacteria, relieve muscle pain and boost the health of your skin. Bam!

I’ll often add Bergamot to some of the following simple rollers I keep on hand in our home AND diffuse it as well…some of our favorite combos —

+Bergamot + White Angelica
+Bergamot + Sacred Frankincense
+Bergamot + Stress Away (YAS.)
+Bergamot + Peppermint + Lavender

Bonus fun fact: Bergamot is a huge component for many perfumes due to its ability to balance the mix of aromas and harmonize all of the essences.

One of my bedside rollers for tension reduction that I use on particularly stressful days (I am home with three boys under four ya’ll….I had to learn how to really COPE so listen in close!) is bergamot, lavender, frankincense and myrrh mixed in fractionated coconut oil.
